Boise PreBurn
August 26th, 2009
So I decided to come over to Boise and help the Genetic Mutant Petting Zoo do their final preparations. I’ve been here since Saturday. I made the drive in record time of 6 hours. Then I went to a rave at a Holiday Inn, it was laughably bad, but I got to see some old school folks from back in the day.
Sunday at 9 AM, my brother and I got some donuts and headed over to chris’ house to dismantle the Hellevator (not to be confused with Hella Vaders, which you find at star wars movie premiers). Its a 1000 lb computer controlled Gothic styled elevator. Which of course takes you to hell, but not before taking you up to heaven, only to free fall down to hell. Where you must confess you GOOD deeds to the devil, then its lets you out into the GMPZ bar.
After dismantling the Hellevator and loading it onto the camp trailer, we were off to pack the rest of the trailer. Lots of demooping carpets and shade cloth, loading up the pieces to build the bar, bar stools, swamp cooler, grey water evaporation pond, and other random camp stuff (lights etc). Shaking out the old shade cloth kicked up a lot of playa dust and that familiar smell was all around me; soon I’ll be swimming in the stuff.
After packing the trailer and disassembling the Hellevator, we were all hot and dirty… POOL PARTY. Hells yeahs!
- Topless chicks
- Pantsless dudes
- Diving board
- Inground hot tub
- Sausages
- Beer
A few too many kids, lets get outta here bro. Lets to go to… another POOL PARTY!
- No topless chicks
- No pantsless dudes either
- bigger pool
- no hot tub
- but waterfall in the pool
- No kids
- But 19 year old girls, win win
- 19 year old boys, lose
- DJ
It was a good first day in my old stomping grounds. Since then I have been keeping busy with work, running, working on my house, drinks with old friends, getting new car speakers today (too pricey$$$). Last night I went and learned the circuit design and software for the Hellevator for the hardware designer who built it. We even had to rebuild a new light sensor board, cus Chris stepped on it. The whole thing is powered by an Arduino board, light censor, 1000 watt amp, and an army of LEDs.
Check out the burning man blog for updates this week. We got initial word back from BRC, there is cell phone reception (for now) and we’ll be camping at 4:00 and E. The city blocks are a lot smaller this year. I still gotta fix my bike and finish covering my house, plenty of time til I gotta get my ass to Reno on Sunday.
